The current edition of Servicing guidelines: best practice for public libraries was published in 2006, following the PricewaterhouseCoopers’ report Better stock, better libraries. As envisaged, changes in public library working, including the increased take-up of RFID, mean that it is time to revisit the guidelines.

Information has been gathered from the public library community and two lively seminars were held at the recent NAG annual conference. Ideas and comments have now been incorporated into a Word version of the guidelines which can be downloaded from here. Changes and comments on the original version have been added in red. NAG would now like to make a final canvas of the public library community before the next edition of the guidelines is published.

Comments have now been received and are being fed into the Update process.  When this is finalised the new edition of the Guidelines will be added for you to download
