Keynote address in London and York from Simon Edwards of BIC's e4Libraries project, and in Perth from Eric Green of BDS
- UK public library services remain under constant pressure to produce back office efficiency savings
- Implementing a fully electronic supply chain – EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and automated payment interface - has the potential to realise significant benefits in terms of cost savings, workflows and speed of supply.
- Yet a fully e-enabled supply chain is a reality for only a minority of library services in the UK.
Why should this be so?
What can be done to change matters?
This important seminar – offered at three separate venues to give members maximum opportunity to attend – is run in support of the high-profile e4Libraries project, funded by the MLA, run by BIC (Book Industry Communication) and due to report in May 2008.
This practical session will allow delegates to:
- examine the standards which underpin electronic commerce
- learn from leading practitioners across a range of library authorities – each in partnership with a different Library Management System supplier
- identify the key elements in successful implementations of a fully electronic supply chain
- identify what is required to facilitate their own implementation of the e-supply chain
- learn more about e4Libraries and put their views to members of the project team
These seminars have now taken place. Sample feedback comments include -
- Excellent EDI seminar providing useful passing on of information and meeting of contacts
- Excellent pace and range of speakers from suppliers and libraries
Prices £125 members and £175 non-members (all ex VAT)
