“Back to the future” – NAG Conference 2015 #NAG2015

This year’s Conference was held once more at the Royal York Hotel, right next to York railway station: the dates were Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September 2015.

#NAG2015

Libraries continue to seek ways of delivering services in straitened circumstances, with austerity set to continue for at least the immediate future. In delivering services in more efficient ways we must not lose sight of what we are here for and what we do best. In order to secure a future for libraries, we have to get the basics right. The 2015 NAG Conference  looked at some of the latest developments in how to deliver these.

After a keynote speaker to set the tone, there was a series of papers and a choice of four workshops, run in two sessions. One of the papers was accompanied by music, and there was also a student panel session after last year’s was so well-received.

The programme is available here.  The papers and workshops proved to be

There was also a tour of the Library & Archive of the National Railway Museum after the Conference for those it suited to travel a bit later.

With ten papers, and the chance to attend two out of four workshops on offer, this conference certainly lived up to previous years. Early feedback includes:

  • Very well organised & a good mixture of topics. Great location!
  • Very well put together programme and workshops – good presenters with relevant and appropriate content.
  • Many thanks for an interesting and enjoyable conference
  • Very useful, & eye opening: much food for thought
  • Thanks for another great conference
  • I was only at the conference on the first day, but really enjoyed it and was impressed with the venue, the organisation and the talks.
  • Many congratulations on another excellent conference.

One of our delegates blogged about the Conference, and she is happy for us to share this http://www.libfocus.com/2015/10/cataloguing-e-books-student-acquisition.html
